How to apply

Step 1
Fill in the online application form
Important tips

You can find the online application form via each individual programme page.

Required documents for application:

  • Passport copy or identity card
  • Resume/CV
  • Personal statement for your studies at BSB (What are your motivations? What is your career plan?)
  • Copy of the last degree obtained or current enrolment certificate if still pending
  • Transcripts of official academic records for the past two years
  • Language test scores or proof of fluency
  • Any other diplomas, certificates or documents depending on the programme
Step 2
Pay the application fee

After attaching all the documents, you will be asked to review and validate your application and pay the €100 non-refundable registration fee.

The application fee must be paid online by credit card when you submit your application.

Please note that your application will not be complete until we receive payment of the application fee.

Step 3
Keep an eye on your emails!
Important tips

  • From the day you are sent a link for your video interview, you will only have three days to record your answers. After three days, the link will expire.
  • You will be able to test the video software before the interview begins, and we strongly encourage you to do so.
  • Make sure you have a reliable Internet connection and headphones for maximum sound quality.
  • This is not a two-way dialogue. You will be given a list of questions and you will record your answers to each question.
  • Once you start the recording, you cannot re-record your answers again - you will have only one attempt.
  • When the interview begins, read the questions carefully. Use the 30 seconds to prepare your answers and 1-2 minutes to record the answer.
  • Please also have your passport on hand because you will have to hold it up to the screen for proof of identity.
Alumni Networking
Getting ready for your video interview
You will be sent a link to schedule your online admission interview as part of your application to our programme.

We want to learn more about you, your experiences, your interests in BSB, expectations, and your academic ambitions.

The 30-minute interview will take place on the EasyRecrue platform; your answers will be recorded for our admissions team to view later.

After you apply

Step 4
Receive your acceptance

Are you one of the lucky ones? Congratulations!

To secure your place, you will be expected to pay the deposit within 20 days of receiving your Pre-Acceptance Letter. The deposit can only be paid via online bank transaction.

The amount of the deposit will vary according to your chosen programme.

After the payment of your deposit is confirmed, you will receive your Final Acceptance Letter within two business days.

View deposits and payment plans
Step 5
Make two very important appointments
2 Appointments you can't miss

1.  Contact Campus France to validate your application.

2.  Then apply for your visa with the embassy in your (nearest) country of residence.

Preparing for your visa appointments

The French consulate will most likely ask you to provide them with the following:

  • An official acceptance letter into one of BSB's programmes. This should be on officially headed paper, featuring your full details, the details of your programme of study and the start and end dates of study.
  • Proof of sufficient funds for living in France. The current amount required is €615 per month, which can be shown with a bank statement, a guarantor’s letter or a notice of funding from a loan, scholarship or grant.
  • Proof of a return ticket home. Often this is in the form of the actual ticket or reservation showing the date of departure, but it can be a handwritten statement of intent, including your anticipated travel dates.
  • Proof of medical insurance (minimum cover €30,000).
  • Proof of accommodation which can be shown in the form of student housing confirmation, a certificate of board and lodging, or ‘attestation d’accueil’ (if you’re living with friends or relatives).
  • Proof of proficiency in French if you are enrolled in one of BSB's French-taught courses.
Step 6
Prepare for your departure
  • Book your accommodation on our dedicated platform Studapart.
  • Book your flight to France at least two weeks before the start of term to ensure you are on time for Welcome Week and the beginning of the semester.

Timeline of payment schedule

The deposit needs to be paid three weeks after you are offered admission to BSB. The rest of the tuition fees are divided into two equal parts, 50% to be paid in September and 50% to be paid in January.

A helpful example

If you are admitted to our Master in Management programme for the September 2023 intake, your payments will be as follows:

For the first year of studies:

  • A €4,000 deposit paid 3 weeks after admission
  • + €4,250 to be paid in September 2023
  • + €4,250 to be paid in January 2024
  • = €12,500

For the second year of studies:

  • €6,250 to be paid in September 2024
  • + €6,250 to be paid in January 2025
  • = €12,500

Questions?

We understand some students might face unexpected events in the current global environment context. We want to make sure you are able to fulfil your studies in the best condition; therefore, if you are admitted and this payment calendar appears to be challenging to follow, please email us and we will do our best to find a solution for you.

Other expenses for international students

Beyond your tuition fees, there are a few other expenses you should be prepared for when studying in France.

Student and Campus Life

CVEC: Contribution à la Vie Etudiante et de Campus

  • This is the only mandatory additional fee international students need to pay to come to France (in addition to the visa cost and Campus France cost).
  • Since this required for all degree-seeking students, you will need to show proof of payment upon arrival at BSB.
  • It is a one-time fee of €95.
  • It allows international students to access a wide variety of services and resources such as: the national CROUS system (offering affordable housing and student dedicated cafeterias), sports and activities throughout the year, artistic and cultural events (concerts, expositions, workshops), and free reproductive health services.

See the Campus France website to learn more and follow their steps to register for the CVEC.

Living in France as a student

Living expenses in France are quite affordable, with reasonable rent on accommodation, plenty of student discounts and free events to keep you entertained on any budget.

Financial aid for international students in France

Burgundy School of Business runs different fundraising projects with profit and non-profit organisations to further support international students in their studies at BSB. For the September 2023 intake, BSB is offering 97 merit-based scholarships covering up to 50% of the tuition fees on the 1st year of studies for talented international students holding an international diploma.

How to apply for a scholarship

Good news! There is no separate scholarship application process. All students admitted to BSB will be considered for a scholarship and if eligible, the amount will automatically be deducted from their tuition.

When we award merit-based scholarships, we evaluate students based on the following criteria:

  • GPA and transcripts
  • University/High school of origin
  • Quality of the application file, above all the cover letter and resume
  • Oral motivation interview results

Scholarship Deadlines

The sooner you apply, the greater your chances.

80% of the scholarships will be distributed proportionately from the 15th of December 2022 to the 15th of April 2023 throughout a monthly assessment made by International Development Division. The residual 20% will be allocated between the 15th of April to the 15th of June on a rolling basis.

Calendar of scholarships will be as follows:

  • December 15th, 2022
  • January 14th, 2023
  • February 15th, 2023
  • March 15th, 2023
  • April 15th, 2023

How to accept your scholarship

If you receive one of BSB's merit-based scholarships, we will deduct upto 50% off your first year's tuition fees. The scholarship does not alter the deposit amount, which must be paid within three weeks of receiving the notification that you have received a scholarship. If the deposit is not paid in time, then BSB reserves the right to revoke the scholarship.

Student discounts across France

Culture

France is famous for its culture and as a student here, you will soon find out why! There's something to explore on every corner, from art to theatre to cinemas and heritage sites. There's always an exhibition happening somewhere, and music and dance festivals pop up across towns throughout spring and summer. Many national and state museums are free - as are libraries for BSB students - and you'll benefit from discounts when you show your student card at many venues across the whole of France and even in wider Europe.

Travel

With an excellent rail network and the high speed TGV train line, you’ll be zipping around the country in no time! The Carte Jeune grants you discounts if you are under 28 years old, and there’s plenty of options for cheaper or last minute tickets too. Travelling by bus or rental car can often be cheap and convenient , and there’s a variety of low-cost airlines giving you easy access to the rest of Europe. Within many cities such as Dijon, you'll find reliable trams or metro lines and free 30-minute bike rentals.

Food

All BSB students have access to the national CROUS system (Centres Régionaux des Ouvres Universitaires et Scolaires), allowing you to have low priced, balanced meals at almost any university in France. Naturally, you'll find a wide variety of cuisines at cafes and restaurants or pop-up food stalls. And for the real French experience, you can't miss our weekly local markets offering fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, bread and pastries, prepared dishes, regional specialties, and more.

Border measures and traveling restrictions
Follow this link for Campus France travelling updates.
Vaccinations: It is highly recommended by the French authorities to be vaccinated before traveling to France to allow all students to take their courses in person. For those who are not able to be vaccinated before their arrival, the government has allowed all international students to be vaccinated in France.

Getting your student visa for France

Before travelling to France and starting your adventure with us at BSB, it's important to obtain the correct documentation. Below are a few tips to help you apply for a student visa and enable you to travel stress-free.

Do you need a visa?

EU students

If you are from the European Union, European Economic Area, or Switzerland then you are not required to apply for a visa; your national identity card or passport will suffice unless you are from Ukraine, Serbia, Belarus, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, or
United Kingdom.

Non-European students

If you stay less than 3 months in France

Depending on your country of residence, you might need a short-stay visa. Check these resources to find out more:

If you stay more than 3 months in France

You will need to obtain a long stay visa called a VLS-TS (visa long séjour valant titre de séjour) before your arrival. Check that your passport will be valid for the entire length of your stay in France and apply for your visa on the Campus France website or at your nearest French consulate or embassy at least 3 months before your departure.

Tip!
You must validate your visa within 3 months of arriving in France.

Students from certain countries

If you come from one of 46 countries, you need to follow the "Etudes en France" visa procedure.

Getting a residence permit in France

Your student visa will be equivalent to a French residence permit if your study programme at BSB is less than one year. For a longer stay, you will need to renew your residence permit before the end of the first year of your studies. You can do this directly via the French Ministry website, or our team in Student Services will be happy to help you with your application. We encourage you to start this process sooner rather than later.

We will also help you at the beginning of the university year to obtain a student residence permit if you fall under one of these specific cases:

  • You are under the age of 18 upon arrival at BSB
  • You have a type-C visa
  • You are a non-European resident in an EU country
